Or just not sure you're on the right track?

Highlands Youth Services offers a free tutoring program for young people in Years 7 to 12 who would not have access to educational support through any other means.  This could be due to adverse or challenging family circumstances or low-income.  Students can refer themselves, or be referred by a family member or a carer with parental responsibility.

The free tutoring program is based at Highlands Youth Hub at Loseby Park, Bowral, and sessions run every Wednesday and Thursday, during the school term, between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.  Sessions are 45 minutes long.  Students work with the support of a skilled and dedicated group of volunteer tutors, many of whom are retired teachers.

To make a referral or get more information, please contact our Youth Centre on 02 4862 1122 or 0414 207 571, or email [email protected].

  • Improving self esteem

    Improving self esteem

Self esteem is the way we think and view ourselves, for example, we might say, “I am a good person”.  Some other ways of saying it are self worth, self respect, self love or self confidence. Low self esteem can impact on all areas of a person’s life – their work, their relationships with family and friends and even what they do for fun – they might not have enough confidence to something they would enjoy.

Walking is so good for you!

There is a lot of research that suggests that walking is good for mental health – and can be as effective as anti depressants for depression. One of the best things about walking is it free, doesn’t require any special equipment and can be done by anybody, anywhere, anytime.  Walking is an easy way to get active, to be in the fresh air and take some deep breaths.
